Rebekka McMahon

I started playing AFL in 2008  in SA. Represented South Australia at National's  2009.  Moved to QLD in 2010. I then travelled to Cairns from Townsville weekly to play for the North Cairns Tigers from 2012. We won two premierships in 2013 & 2014 - I represented QLD 2012 - 2014. During those years (2012 - 2014) I helped form a womens league in Townsville which is now running strong. 2015 returned to SA & continued to play AFL. 2017 in training with the AFLW team, Adelaide Crows & saw me drafted to the Norwood Football Club. In the first year of this SANFLW competition we not only took the flag but I was fortunate enough to be captain.

Recently I was invited on a tour of Ronald McDonald House here in Adelaide, thanks to the Norwood Football Club. It was an organisation that instantly started pulling on my hearts strings & I had to help.

I have decided to sponsor a child on the Ronald McDonald Learning Program. Education is so very important, not to mention some of the fun times you can have at school with your mates whilst learning! Due to a serious illness or a long term injury so many kids miss out on this & of no fault of their own.

The Ronald McDonald Learning Program supports kids (both metro & rural) on their educational journey by providing individualised programs that include - speech & occupational therapy, educational assesement & one-to-one tutoring for 40 weeks, just to name a few.

It cost's $5000 to put one child through this program for 12 months

My sponsor child is Tait! He is a happy & ambitious 8 year old boy. Unfortunately, Taits brain does not produce horomones properly which means he has multiple health problems, missing several months of a year of education due to surgeries, pain, fatigue & other illnesses. In words of his own he describes himself as "having a limited bucket of energy" & that his "body sometimes can't keep up with my mind".

On Sunday the 26th of November 2017, I will be competing in the Kangaroo Island Suffest-Half Ironman, for Tait.

1.9km swim
90km ride
21.1km run

For the next 6 months I will happily step out of my comfort zone & train twice a day to help raise funds for Taits Learning Program & to just see his cheeky smile of happiness.

Please help me to support Tait by donating.
